Default What has happened to the folder cataloging....????

    Hi,

I'm an old Mezzmo user. Been using it for a few years now. Love it.

However, I was using an older version and as I liked the way it worked I didn't upgrade it. I re-imaged my machine today and downloaded a new version, registered it and went about loading everything up.

All seemed to go ok. That was, until I went to find my media...

What the hell has it done to all the title information??? It's applied a load of metadata all over the place, re-categorised everything now I can't find a thing!!

My media was classified into folders and subfolders. Now everything seems to be all over the place. Stuff that was neatly filed away into a folder (for instance I have a folder full of MotoGP races) is now all over the place in the filing system based on what the file is called!! This is a complete mess.

Can I return it back to my folder classifications as before? At least then I'll be able find stuff where I know it exists. I have files now that cannot be found at all. This new catalog system is really horrible. I guess it works when it has content that it knows about or media that can be recognised over the internet - but what if you have custom stuff? It seems to just stick it anywhere it likes and then shove it in a folder that doesn't mean anything at all.

So, one question.... am I being an idiot here? Have I missed something?

and.. can I get the filing back to what I had before and dispense with this mess? Maybe it's a simple setting?

If anyone can help me with this I'd be grateful.

    Thanks,

I forgot to add... If I go into folder view mode from the left hand menu, I "can" change the names to everything I want. However, for some odd reason, although I change the names to what I want - they don't stay as I changed them.

I mentioned some MotoGP race movies... These are catalogued in the file structure as MotoGP 2014 and MotoGP 2015. In that structure, I then have under MotoGP 2014, March, April, May etc. etc.

I have the same under MotoGP 2015. However, the program keeps changing them to 01 Motogp, 02 MotoGP, 03 MotoGP with the titles of " A - Z MotoGP". I really want to STOP it from doing this!

    Any ideas anyone...?

If you just wish to see your existing folder structure that you have on your computer in your Mezzmo library, then do the following:

    1. In Mezzmo, click on "Library" in the tree on the left.
    2. Click "Add To Library" -> "Add Folder".
    3. Select your folder from your computer and select the types of files you wish to see in this folder (e.g. video files, music files, photo files or all media files). Click OK.
    4. Mezzmo will add this folder into the tree under "Library" and it will be a direct representation of your folder on your computer. You can now connect to Mezzmo server from your device(s) and browse this folder and play files, etc.
    5. If you don't want the other playlists and folders that Mezzmo created when you installed the latest version, then you can simply remove them. Select the playlist/folder in the tree and press the DEL key to remove the playlist/folder. This lets you configure your Mezzmo library just as you like.

    Hi,

I tried this. It worked - sort of... However, I took out most of my custom stuff first and left in my 2015 MotoGP stuff only. This is in a top level folder in my "Video" folder I added called MotoGP2015. I wanted to see if it would all work ok.

This folder was created ok. Name stayed the same. There were two more folders underneath - "Qatar - March 29", and "Texas - April 12".

Mezzmo labelled these OK in the folder tree on the left but.. the files inside these folders, it labelled A-Z MotoGP (BOTH of them in EACH folder). the actual file names were different! The only way I could sort this was to rename them.

The odd thing was that the file names using Windows Explorer (viewing the actual folders on my NAS) were as they should have been but Mezzmo interpreted the file names as something else. That, is a complete mystery.

Ok, now I know what it is doing I can deal with it, but it's really annoying and I can't understand why it would do this. Bug perhaps?

Now I can see my folder tree properly I can at least find stuff now but this re-labelling issue is going to be an ongoing one I think. Maybe the guys should take a look at it.

Thanks for the feedback though. At least it's useable now. Not sure what older version I was using before - but that one didn't do this.

That still does not sound right. Can you take a screenshot of your Mezzmo app so we can see the folder and it's contents? Also, take a screenshot of the Folder Properties dialog (right-click on the folder in the tree and click Properties). Post them here or email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

    No, it's not right somewhere.

There's no point in taking any snapshots now as I've changed everything. It won't really tell you what's going on now. However, I update my custom folder with these races every couple of weeks. When I add a new one, I will report back if it's still acting a bit squiffy and has changed the new entry. I think it will, but maybe it won't - who knows?

I do appreciate the feedback though. Let's see how it goes.
