Thread: First Install Thumbnails issue

    Default First Install Thumbnails issue

    Hello all,

First excuse me for my English, i'm french.
I installed yesterday Mezzmo because i have difficulties with Samsung PC Share Manager and PS3 Media Player.

No problem during installation, everything worked fine even with zonealarm. My Samsung LE40C630 TV was recognized instantly. . It is designed as samsung C device.

The library scan was launched for a long time for my 20 000 pictures (JPG + DNG) but not so much movies.

When i first launched mezzmo on my TV, it was impossible to browse folders because scan was running. At the end i was able to browse movies, pictures very easilly and relativly fast. The thumbnails were ok.

On the next start, i had trouble with thumbnails. The thumbnails of my movies were those from my pictures ??? whereas the thumbnails of my pictures were ok.

Mezzmo looks like a very very good software, i plane to by it if he did the job and for the moment it's the case. Moreover, the price is very decent.

Just anaother thing, during scan i get a lot of ffmpeg fatal errors. The only thing to do was to click "OK".

Another simple question : How do we know when reencoding is on ?
is it possible to display DNG files ?

    Thank you for answer.
    Probably mezzmo another client.

    Configuration :
    PC With XP pro SP3
    2 Gb RAM
    E8600
Wired conncetion to TV across a 100mb switch
Samsung TV LE40C630 with last firmware update.

If you look at your movie files in Mezzmo's GUI (not on your TV), are the thumbnails ok?

We have an updated build of FFmpeg that doesn't show errors, if you wish, please send a message to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and we'll send you a copy of that to replace yours.

Another simple question : How do we know when reencoding is on ?
At the moment the only way to know if transcoding is happening or not is to check the Task Manager for presence of "ffmpeg.exe" - if it's there, then most probably Mezzmo is transcoding that file. Future versions will provide feedback about this in the Status pane.

is it possible to display DNG files ?
Not at the moment, but I'll add a note to investigate this format.

In the Mezzmo GUI i can see wrong thumbnails. Movies thumbnails are those from the pictures as i can see on my TV.
Should i update my movies folder with the new ffmpeg to get right thumbnails ?

Photos thumbnails seems to be correct.

i use version 2.1.11 (the version of the trial download link), may be i have to update my version ?

The mail to get updated version of ffmpeg is sent.

    thanks

I have updated videos using icon "maintenance bibliothèque" and now thumbnails are "ok".
Few minutes ago i tried to watch movies dones with Camera Canon powershot G7. It's AVI container with MJPEG (motion JPEG) codec Video and Signed 16 bits little endian PCM codec audio. Each 5 seconds the movie stops and i have to wait 10 seconds to watch the following.

Any idea about how to correct this problem ?

Moreover, i can't play this movie, my TV says unknown codec, here's mediainfo description :

Ok, so it works now? Strange that the thumbnails didn't appear the first time.

Most probably it's transcoding. If you try to play it from the start after a few minutes, does it play ok?

Moreover, i can't play this movie, my TV says unknown codec, here's mediainfo description :
Can you please post FFmpeg information on that file (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command).

Are you using the "Samsung C" device profile?

Yes, actually thumbnails are the right one. Viewing pictures in TV is very nice, mezzmo is a great software, the best one for pictures.

For my "special" divx, i can't play it even 10-20 muinutes after start. When i launch the movie i have the icon wait and then the TV displays unknown video codec. It's the same thing with samsung pc share manager. It's not a great problem, if there is no solution, i will reencode this file with SUPER.

I'll post you soon ffmpeg info.

    I use samsung c profile.

    thanks

    Hi,

I sent you by mail ffmpeg report about 2 files.
    - The fist one about a avi file that is not playable with mezzmo, the tv says unknown codec.
    - The second one for video from camera (Canon G7). These files are displayed 5-10 seconds before mezzmo send the next one for 5-10 s too and so on.

is it possible in mezzmo to tell the program that this file (known has been unsuppoted) should be transcoded or is it the files extension who is the ultime criteria ?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the file info - I'll get back to you via e-mail regarding that.

Mezzmo doesn't look at file extensions to determine whether a file is playable or not - we dig inside the file and get the actual video/audio codecs and match them with what the device supports (or doesn't) to determine whether the file needs transcoding or not.

Ok, thank's, i'm waiting for the answer.
With the new ffmpeg there are no more fatal errors when scanning folders for update.

Another question, is it possible to have all file in normal folder to be streamed and in the same time all files too in transcode folder ?
With this, if a file is not playable directly, you can go to the transcode folder to display it correctly. Or is it possible to force transcode for file who are normally playable but drive to an error, regardless container, video and audio codec ? In fact in the library can we say this file will be transcoded ?

Is the getprotocolinfo an interesting information ?
Do you need other informations such as samsungdesc.xml or RemoteUIServerDescLevel1.xml or PersonalMessageReceiver.xml ?

    Thank's.

A future version of Mezzmo will show you which files need to be transcoded and you could also force transcoding on files as well - this should be part of the next major update, I believe.

Yes, GetProtocolInfo is always interesting SamsungDesc.xml can also help - the other two XMLs are not related to the way Mezzmo operates, so probably nothing useful in them.
