Option to disable check for updates at launch

Hi,

I'd really like an option to disable the automatic check for updates at launch.

Maybe you can include a default "Basic Mode" with settings appropriate for most users, and an alternative "Advanced Mode" where more knowledgeable users can change more advanced options, including disabling the check for updates etc.

Adding an option to enable/disable checking for upates should be pretty easy. I'll see if we can slipstream it into the upcoming minor update.
