    Default Problem with Mede8er MED600X3D

    (Reposted in correct topic)

I've just replace my aging WD TV with a Mede8er MED600X3D.

Thus far its not working out so well. Whilst the device seems decent enough it seems to be freezing with certain playlists. (Possbily large ones ?)

I cant say for sure if this is mezzmo or the device.

First step is to check the device profile. Got to the Media Devices dialog and check what device profile is assigned to your device. I suggest using the "Mede8er Multimedia Player" device profile. Try streaming now.

If no better, then please capture a set of logs and we'll see what's going wrong. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo server from your Mede8er device and reproduce the problem you mention. Then, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks for the reply. I browsed the device makers forum and it looks like this device isnt especially reliable. Since I was replacing my WD TV not because of functionality, but because of occasional issues with stuttering seems like this was probably not the device to go for. I shall be replacing it and am going to try the Matricom G-Box Q - hopefully this will pan out better !

The new device is working ok, but I captured the logs and will mail them to support so you can create a profile.

Further to this i've had a bit of a fiddle with the new device. I works ok for the most part but seems to be struggling with streaming 1080p. (Possibly the device rather than mezzmo). The player it uses is KODI which is a variant of XMBC. Harware spec seems reasonable enough, but I dont know if its got decoding hardware (Which I believe the WDTV has).

What I really want is an alternative to the WD TV box that does everything it can, but doesnt periodically freeze up, and does occasionally lose the plot, and report the length of all video streams as 18:18 (among other things)

After we release the upcoming v2.0 of our Mezzmo (Android) app, then my recommendation would be to check out one of the Android TV-based media players such as the Nexus player. The new Mezzmo Android app is fully Android TV compliant. We're testing it here and it working well. Among many of the nice things of this device/app combination is the ability to see all metadata (title, description, tagline, season, episode, actors, producers, directors, IMDB links, etc.) and great looking posters/backdrops.

Update: Just noticed that your Matricom G-Box Q is an Android-based (4.4.2 Kit Kat) media player. That will run our Mezzmo Android app really well, so you will have a great media playing experience with our upcoming Mezzmo (Android) v2.0 app.
