Question Change video file extension to appease PS4 media player

I would like to change my video files from having a .m4v extension to having a .mp4 extension to accommodate the PS4 media player which apparently can't figure out it doesn't need to transcode a .m4v file. Changing the file extensions in bulk is easy enough, but is there a way to have Mezzmo see the same file with the new extension and realize that it's the same movie in the database? I've spent a lot of time setting up the movies how I like them using keywords and smart playlists and I would really like to accomplish it without developing carpal tunnel.
