Red face RAW Pictures (Canon CR2) Not Showing

Afternoon - I've spent an hour or so searching this (honestly!) and have not found any answers , except that RAW files were not support in Mezzmo in around 2013. However, I'm assuming they are now as there were a few posts where RAW compatability was promised 'in future editions' of Mezzmo.

Mezzmo on my WHS system cannot see RAW (CR2) files at all - though it can see JPEGs in the same folder. (Consiquently, RAW files do not show on our Panasonic plasma.)

    What have I missed?

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, RAW image formats are not yet supported in the current version of Mezzmo (v4.1.3.0). The feature is still on our development task list, but we've been busy completing other much requested features for the upcoming Mezzmo v5.0 (e.g. web interface, URL streaming ,plugins, etc.). We'll take your request as another vote for RAW format support and we'll raise its priority for the next version of Mezzmo.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

Okay Paul, thanks for the reply. I'll have to sort something else out to view RAW files on the TV for now. (I've only just found a Windows codec pack [http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...aspx?id=26829] that allows RAW file viewing in Vista & Win7 - maybe there's one for WHS 2011.)

Anyway, thanks for the information - & for looking at RAW for future Mezzmo support.

    Cheers,

    Chris

EDIT: The codec pack does work in Vista, but you have to select the RAW file, right-click to 'Open With>/Choose Default Program/Other Programs - then scroll down to 'Windows Photo Gallery'. Irritiating, but at least it works. (Also, de-select the 'Always use this program' radio switch if you use Adobe Lightroom, or similar.)

Well, I found a solution of sorts. The most popular way to see RAW picutre files in WHS (etc.) is by using FastPicture Viewer. Many use the Pro version ($50/£33) and are very pleased with it. FPV even offer their codec pack for all Windows 32/64bit versions: www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs. (It seems that this pack used to be free too - shame I missed that one!)

FastPicture Viewer is obviously good, but I'm just not throwing any more money at this - even though the codec pack is just $10/£6.50. Viewing media from our server on our TV is, after all, what we have Mezzmo for... or Mezzmo 6, presumably.

Well, at least I know now!

Cheers again Paul (& Peter on email support),

    Chris
