Thread: Possible tweak

  1. #1

    Default Possible tweak

    Could selecting file for TV show add a field to assign the series name to cover all underneath folders ie having Games of Thrones the below folders are defaulted to being games of thrones.
    Would make it a lot easier than going through the properties one by one, as this can be a long drawn out exercise when there are shows close to other show names even the use of imdb codes could help too.

    Not sure exactly what you mean. Have you used the "TV Series" playlist under videos? It looks like this:

    Video
    TV Series
    A Game of Thrones
    Season 1
    Season 2
    The North Remembers
    etc.
    Season 3
    Breaking Bad
    Season 1
    Season 2

    If that does not match your needs, then list an example of what you mean and we'll help you create such as playlist/folder structure.

    I am meaning if i use the customization add folder

    Lets say i have a hdd with tv shows in a ordered config.

    TV Series
    A Game of Thrones <--- in this properties tab there is a series field that defaults the below seasons as the defined field
    Season 1
    Season 2

    instead of currently if the season 1-2 is picked wrong and collects the wrong show and then having to individually change all the properties via series tab episode by episode

    OK - understand a little better now. It's always best of you name your files so that Mezzmo can pick up the TV series name, the season and episode so that it automatically collects all the metadata for you. The current version of Mezzmo (v4.1.3.0) supports the following file path styles for extracting TV show and movie information from file paths:

    C:\folder\Movie Title.avi
    C:\folder\Movie Title YYYY.avi
    C:\folder\Movie Title (YYYY).avi
    C:\folder\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi

    But not always. I have a tv show and its selected with 2015 as year and the series of the same name but 2009 is defaulted hence why i think a default on the tv show and able to force the tv show name to the below folders would be effective

    Can you tell us the full file path for the video file that does not have correct metadata? (e.g. e:\videos\Prison Break\prison.break.s03e01.720p.hdtv.x264-ctu.mkv). We'll try it here and see what's going wrong for you.

    Thanks. The problem is that the actual series name is "Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2015)", but you do not have a colon (:) in the series name in the file name (since you cannot have colons in Windows file names). So when Mezzmo searches online web sites for this series, it gets a different series that you are after.

    A quick fix for this is to create a small XML metadata file in the same folder as the video file. So create a XML file with the same name (i.e. "Transformers.Robots.in.Disguise.2015.S01E23.T he. Buzz.on.Windblade.WEB-DL.x264.AAC.xml") and copy + paste the following text into it (using a text editor like Notepad)

    Code:
    <episode>
        <seriesname>Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2015)</seriesname>
        <season>1</season>
        <episode>23</episode>
    </episode>
    This XML file tells Mezzmo the series name, season number and episode number. Mezzmo will use this instead of using the metadata from the video file's filename. After creating the XML file on disk, right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Maintain Files'. On the Maintain Files dialog, select the "Update all attributes" radio button and click 'Maintain Now'. After maintenance has completed, refresh the playlist/folder in Mezzmo and you should see the correct metadata for your video .

    Ok so if i wanted the entire folder to do that how would i code the xml file? And wouldn't a series field on the top folder fix this? Also removing the strictness of the file names

    Understand. In that case, create a "series.xml" file in the folder containing the videos with the following contents:

    Code:
    <series>
        <seriesname>Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2015)</seriesname>
    </series>
    This will apply to all videos in the folder.
