Default Trying out Mezzmo /w DirectTV

I'm using the trial to see if I can use this to watch my movies via newly installed directv hr44 (had hr34). My basic question is am I missing something? I can see the Mezzmo server on my xboxes, windows media players etc, but I cannot see the server from my directv box directly connected. I had an HR 34 that was upgraded to a hr44 yesterday and having 0 luck. I have tried different profiles in Mezzmo but my issue is not playing anything as I cannot even see the server. Note: I have plex and emby dlna and can't see those either. The only systems I can see shared content from my windows systems.

I have a number of other questions related to xbox and windows playing movies but for now my main goal is to get my directv system to connect so I can use a single device.

First, yes it will work. Does it work well? No.

DirecTV MediaShare is a Beta project for DirecTV and they have no intention of making it anything that is very workable. I used to work for them and brought this question up with engineers and other higher ups on a few occasions and you would have thought I had asked them if they had 2 heads.

Everything must be transcoded to MPEG-2 for video and .mp3 for audio. The DirecTV boxes will not support UPnP shared media of any other type. You will never be able to FF/Rew anything with DirecTV using UPnP/DLNA shared files. The ability is simply disabled in DirecTV Media Share.

Second, how is your HR44 connected to your home network? Via the built-in wireless adapter or do you have it connected via Cat5e? Are you able to control your HR44 with the DirecTV remote app? Is the firewall on the PC running Mezzmo blocking services to the DirecTV box(es)?

It sounds like DirecTV is not going to be a good option. I can go with my Xbox on this. And yes the HR44 is connected wireless to my home network. I can control the DVR via my tablet so I know the device is accessible on the network. I also can see the windows media players set to share and can play the movies via that media share tool.

I've done all of the pre-check work to ensure the windows firewall has the appropriate ports and apps allowed etc.

Since directtv as a media player does not look like it will be great, we can call this question closed.

    Thanks for the review.
