Default Unsupported file "mp3" and others on Samsung TV with FFMPEG crashes

hi, I am evaluating Mezzmo and like it better than the samsung PC share software that came with my TV, however, Mezzmo causes my TV to error "unsupported file type" for file types that worked fine streaming through the PC Share software.

I turned transcoding OFF since it crashed my computer by starting a new instance of FFMPEG for every video or audio file I played. After a full evening's entertainment it was running like 75 times. Even with transcoding ON the TV would initially say "unsupported file type" and then Mezzmo would start transcoding and it would start to play.

Now with transcoding off the TV says that (at least) mp3s are unsupported and some audio streams with my VOBs that all played fine yesterday through PC Share.

Additionally Mezzmo takes significantly longer to access and navigate between files than PC Share did.

    Hi,

Can you please tell me the model of your TV and which device profile (as per the Media Devices dialog) you're using?

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

It auto-detected my Samsung ln40c670 as "Samsung C", additionally I have found out that the 1000 instances of FFMPeg.exe erroring out are being generated by Mezzmo's creating video thumbnails for all of my video files.

Thanks. Please send a message to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and we'll send you a patch to try. Also, please send a log of trying to play one of the files that doesn't play (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging).

I am hoping that this may help other users. I logged Mezzmo while trying to play mp3s that would not play and were showing up as "Unsupported File" on my Samsung tv. The new patched version of FFMpeg.exe that support sent me worked in that it made my Thumbnail fetch stop crashing, but it made the MP3s on the tv totally broken rather than just broken with transcoding turned OFF.

Anyway, after looking at the log I could see that Mezzmo was generating "file or path not found" errors for my MP3s despite their being in the database appropriately and playable by me using the same file path in VLC.

My MP3s are on a "drive" that is fake, it is a Windows virtual drive that points its root to a subfolder on another drive. So that my MP3s are easily accessible to me at a root rather than nest 4 layers deep. So my "M:" drive is fake. Once I pointed the database to the actual location of the files "N:\blah\blah\music" rather than "M:\music" Mezzmo plays them just fine.

I think this is an issue with FFMpeg rather than Mezzmo, since it is querying below the Windows level of OS it doesn't see the drive, even though Mezzmo does.

Hope this helps some people out.
