Thread: Empty folder but it's not empty and can be seen from other media devices

Default Empty folder but it's not empty and can be seen from other media devices

I have just started a 15 day trial of Mezzmo as a possible replacement for Seviio.

My set up is as follows:
Media held on a Seagate Central NAS
Mezzmo installed on my laptop which has access to the media (currently all photos) on the NAS
    Sony Bravia KDL W TV

I have set up the library pointing to the top level of the folder that holds all my photos (there are sub folders under this)

I prefer to view the photos through the "folders" playlist so it replicates my structure on the NAS. The TV can see all the folders' contents. However, if I try to view the same through the PC that is running Mezzmo by accessing the Mezzmo Media Server through Windows File Explorer some folders's contents display fine but other folders are said to be empty. I do not think it is a "permissions" issue as the TV can see the files and the PC can see some folders that are at the same hierarchy as ones where the content cannot be displayed. Whilst, it is not a major, major issue (I can see the files through network drive access on the PC), I would prefer all was working 100% before committing to a purchase. Your advice would be appreciated.

On a separate topic, I found the TV would not always detect the Mezzmo Server. I have overcome this by ensuring the TV is in Media Player mode before starting Mezzmo. Alternatively, I stop and restart the Mezzmo Server and then the TV fairly quickly detects it.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi MIC,

One reason that Windows File Explorer can see some files and not other files may be related to the device profile assigned to Windows Explorer. Go to the Media Devices dialog and locate the device with your PC's IP address. Edit this device and on the Device Settings dialog, change the device profile to "Generic Device (NTSC)". Next, go to the Transcoding tab on the Device Settings dialog, and turn off transcoding. Click OK to save your changes. Restart your Mezzmo server and try browsing Mezzmo server via Windows Explorer to see if that is better now. If there still are files missing, then let us know what files are not being displayed. Right-click on a few of them in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Post that here or email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

One reason for your TV to not always detect Mezzmo server may be related to the SSDP advertisment interval. Try making it shorter (e.g. 180). Restart your Mezzmo server after making any changes to SSDP. See this FAQ for more information - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ement-interval

    Hi Paul,

Like many other users on this forum, I am impressed with the speed of response and indeed the accuracy of the diagnosis! I am replying here so that others may benefit from the answers. Both suggestions worked. The PC profile had been set by default to Conceiva Mezzmo (Windows) as it was the server I suppose. I set it to Generic Device (NTSC) and all files in all folders can now be seen in Windows File Explorer. It still seems strange that some could and others not.

The SSDP advertisment suggestion also worked and the TV picked Mezzmo up quite quickly.

I will post a couple of other queries under separate headings

    Thank you

    Maurice
