Default MKV Format not supported for Philips 7000

    Hi Paul,

I am trying to reactivate an older Philips 7000 TV. It is High Definition (1920x1280) and plays videos, photos and music streamed by my rock-stable Mezzmo 4.1.3 but fails to play any HD video format. I am mostly using AVC HD for compatibility reasons across all my TV's (mostly Samsungs C,D and J).

Interestingly I can't get Mezzmo to transcode to the Philips.

    Here is the FFMPEG information

    Hi Bernhard,

What device profile is assigned to your Philips TV? Go to the Media Devices dialog to check this. It should be "Philips TV 7000" or one of the other Philips device profiles.

One thing to try is to pre-transcode one of your videos and then try streaming it. Your Philips TV may not like playing files that are transcoding on-the-fly.

You mention that it does stream videos, but just not HD videos. Correct? This may indicate that the Philips TV firmware only accepts specific maximum resolutions for certain video formats, and 1920 x 1080 may be too high. At the moment, the Philips TV 7000 device profile is allowing 1920 x 1080 for all video formats. To test this, edit your device in the Media Devices dialog. On the Device Settings dialog, go to the Performance tab and set the Video resolution to a reduced value (e.g. 640 x 480). Delete your transcoded files for the device via the Transcoding tab and try pre-transcoding/streaming your HD videos now. If that works, then we can tweak the device profile to accommodate Philips TV's firmware limitations.

If still no success, then it's best we see a set of logs when you stream one of your transcoded files to your TV. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo server from your TV and try to stream one of your videos. When it fails to play, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Update: After doing a quick search on the web, it appears that Philips 7000 TVs may have a max video resolution of 720x480 pixels (NTSC) or 720x576 pixels (PAL) when streaming via DLNA. Try these settings as your max video resolution and see if it performs better.

    Hi Paul,

The new profile works fine for my AVC clips. They get transcoded to 720x576 on the fly and stream fine to my Philips 7000 TV.
Superb support from the Conceiva team.

    Best
