    Default Sorting question

I'm sorry, I've been putting off asking this question for a long time thinking I could figure it out or find it in the forum somewhere. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to sort my collection correctly. Yes, I do see the column headings and when I go to
Library>Video>Folders>Movies it wants to sort them by file name. In the details view I can click the column header (and I added 'sort title') to sort them correctly. HOWEVER, if I change the view from details to medium thumbnails it goes back to sorting by file name. I see no way to sort by 'sort title' or even title.

I'd like to see all my movies at once, I have about 1000. If I select Library>video>movies it again wants to sort by file name, not sort title. I don't want them grouped in folders by letter.

Also, when I use my iPad to log on using nPlayer it's all sorted by file name, not movie name.

Can anyone help me get this 'sorted' out please?

    Thanks!

To sort your folders, right-click on the folder in the tree in Mezzmo and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, select the 'Sort By' setting that you want and click OK. Now your files will be sorted the way you want when displayed in Mezzmo app and on your devices.

Just to explain: When you click the Details columns to sort your files, it is sorting them only in Details view in Mezzmo (Windows) app. It does not sort them for your devices. You will need to use the above method for changing the sort order for your folders/playlists when browsing them on your devices.

Also, all the default playlists that you see in your Mezzmo library can be edited or removed and you can create new playlists to match how you want your Mezzmo library to look/work. So if you don't like some of them & need help changing them, just ask and we'll explain how to tweak the existing playlists or create new ones.

    Awesome, thanks!

So now, when I click Library>Video>Movies it wants to put everything in letter/number folders. I did put in "sort title ascending" but I think maybe the 'keyword hierarchy' is making it go into the folders. I tried removing that but it won't let me. Any way I can get this view to show all my movies or must it be in subfolders?

Glad the sorting works better now.

Let's create a smart playlist that shows you all your movies in one flat list. It's very easy to do. To this, follow these steps:

    1. Click on Video in the tree in Mezzmo.
    2. Click 'Create Playlist' -> 'Smart Playlist' on the toolbar.
    3. On the Smart Playlist Properties dialog, give your playlist a name (such as 'My Movies').
    4. Next, add the following rule:
      [Category] [contains] [Movie]
    5. Select the 'Video files' radio button so hat only video files are displayed.
    6. Click OK to save your smart playlist.

You should see your new smart playlist appear in the tree in Mezzmo and it will list all your movies. You can edit it again if you like by right-clicking on the smart playlist in the tree in Mezzmo and clicking Properties. For example, you may want to change the sort settings for the playlist.

If that works great for you and you no longer want to use the default 'Movies' playlist, then you can easily remove it by selecting it in the tree and press the DEL key on your keyboard.
