Thread: Mezzmo ends up in "not responding"

Default Mezzmo ends up in "not responding"

    Hi!

Almost every second click Mezzmo ends up in not responding; sometimes for seconds (can be up to 30), but also much longer, two minutes and even more, when clicking from one folder to another, depending on the folder size.
Mezzmo does not crash, it just is terribly busy and finally it starts working again, until the next click... (in a folder with 500 subfolders).

System is W7/64, i7-3610, 16Gb, Samsung SSD EVO840 1Tb, and is running fine at the same time with "sleeping" Mezzmo.
Data is stored on a WHS2011. Network speed is around 100 Mbps (WLAN as well a LAN).

    Is that "normal"?

No, itīs not. What a difference.

I installed Mezzmo on the WHS (i5-4430, 8GB), with access to the same files/structure.
The same action, switching from one main-folder (music, pictures, video) to another takes on the notebook 20s and on the WHS less than 2s.
Opening a subfolder "y" (music/x/y, 140GB/32.000 files) takes on the WHS 1min40sec (and this seems already unacceptable long), but on the notebook I cancelled the process after 10(!)min "not responding".

I was not logged in on the WHS itself, I access the WHS per remote-desktop-connection via the same WLAN/Router/network from the Notebook. But anyway, there is almost no network-traffic, so this canīt be the problem.

I donīt know if there is a solution - but if not, I cannot use Mezzmo for my needs.

BTW: the android-app on my mobile runs quick and opens the same folder with almost no delay...

    Hi Robert,

It certainly is not normal. Clicking on folders, sub-folders, playlists, sub-playlists, etc. should take >1-2 secs. So, something is going wrong on your system. It's best we see a set of logs and that will tell us what's going wrong. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging). Restart your Mezzmo server and then exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Run Mezzmo (Windows) app again and reproduce the 'not responding' issues you mention. Once reproduced, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

After installing on the WHS2011 Mezzmo was running fast, as long as no internal "Service Tasks" were running.
With the internal tasks running it slowed down the same. So it was terribly busy for hours and not "ready to use" at all.

Now, that all tasks are finished, Mezzmo runs normal; switching from one folder to another is quick within a few seconds. Only opening a subfolder including X.000 mp3īs still takes a lot of time.
But I can see how Mezzmo uses and fills RAM that time. Reaching ~700M, the "no response"-status disappears and Mezzmo works again. But, this takes time.
I upgraded my WHSī processor yesterday from an i5-4430 to an i7-4790K. That probably helps a little, too.

    Diagnostic logging will follow.

    Thanks,
    Robert
