    Question Device profile not accurate

Hello. I'm new here, and am really liking this!
I've noticed that some files (non-xvid .avis, .mkv and some .mp4s) are being transcoded, even though my device can play them natively.
I have a Sony SMP N200, and there is a profile listed. I've tested this out by placing an .mkv file in the library, and when listed from my device, the file is shown as "M2TS" (which I assume means that the file will be transcoded), and when I use the console and modify the transcoding properties of the file to "Use original file" It will show up correctly as "MKV". The same goes for the .avi files.
Is there a way to correct this without going through the library and changing the properties on each file? I'm assuming that a better profile would do the trick, but I am clueless about editing the profiles (yes, I checked out the threads regarding editing, and got even more confused). The whole concept of containers vs. file extensions and codecs makes my head spin!
    Can someone help me out?

What device profile is assigned to your device? It should be "Sony SMP-N200 (NTSC)" or "Sony SMP-N200 (PAL)".

We can tweak the device profile and provide it to you. Right-click on the files that your SMP N200 can play natively (but currently Mezzmo is transcoding) and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Email this to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll provide the tweaked device profile.

OK. So after changing, and re-changing the profiles back and forth (tried several other Sony profiles for kicks), most of the transcoding stuff went away except for the .mkv files. I will send an email with the info you requested. FYI, I am using the "Sony SMP-N200 (NTSC)" profile.

    Thanks greatly!
