Question Vizio Smart TV Profile - supported video formats

I have a Vizio E55-C1 smart tv and it is working well with Mezzmo V 4.1.3.22. I have a bunch of videos, mostly WMV with a few MPG, MP4 and MOV.
The profile for this TV only mentions MPEG for video (along with various photo and audio formats).

Does that mean Mezzmo is transcoding everything to MPEG? I'm not well versed in reading the profiles, obviously!

The Vizio documentation does not mention which formats it supports - gee, that's helpful!

Can I determine what forms are supported by turning off transcoding and then trying to stream some videos of various formats?

    Hi Larry,

We do have several new Vizio TV device profiles that will better match your model. They will be included in the upcoming Mezzmo v5.0 that we are preparing now for release. You can email us now at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll provide early access to these device profiles.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp

Paul, Thanks for the new Vizio TV profiles. I have tested with the VizioSmartTV_2015 profile. It seemed to act the same as the older one I had been using. That is, everything streamed just fine. I haven't tried the one for "M" models or "UHD" models since my TV is not either of those.

An observation: I turned off all transcoding and deleted all transcoded files and then streamed some videos. Almost all of my videos are format WMV along with a few MPGs. I found that they all played fine. And I checked that no transcoded files were made. I turned transcoding on and streamed some videos again. All the WMV files were transcoded to some form of MPG which played fine. In fact, it transcoded all the WMV files in the playlist even though I didn't play them. I guess that's OK but the TV seems to support WMV natively. Is there an advantage to having the WMV files transcoded?

    Is this the expected behavior?

    Cheers,
    Larry

Still on Mezzmo 4.1.3.22 and have done a little more testing of the Vizio profiles. Although the VizioSmartTV_2015 profile was working it was taking forever (more than 30 seconds, I estimate) for a video to start streaming, even though it was already transcoded. At first I thought that something had crashed (due to no response to commands to the TV) but when I waited long enough things would proceed. I didn't think I had that issue with the original Vizio Smart TV profile so I went back to the old one. Two things happened: All the previously transcoded files were gone (probably OK since the profile changed) and streaming a video started up really quickly! I even tried to stream some videos before they were transcoded and they started quickly - maybe they had been transcoded already.

So for now, the original profile seems like a winner to me!

When I get some more time I will try the other new profiles.
