    Default Mezzmo app streaming

    Hi

First of all, thank you for the Mezzmo 5.

I just installed Mezzmo 5 and I'm able to stream from internet after doing port forwarding.

how do I get Mezzmo android app to connect to the server from outside so I can watch more easily and maybe take advantage of transcoding.

    thank you

    Hi,
in Mezzmo android go to the servers list and long click on the Mezzmo server, in the popup that is shown check the box for 'Make sticky' to keep the server in the list. If you are outside your home network and you try to access the server the app will prompt you to try remote access if it cannot contact the server on the local network, or you can go back to this popup and checking the box for 'Remote Access'.

I'm adding server from outside of my home network, and using http://IPort/desc as address. it will add it but never connect, I think user name/password prompt should pop up like the browser version, but I don't see it

like I said on my first post, I can connect to server fine on browser, and able to stream, even on my tablet/phone, but connecting the server within the app would be much better

when I long click server that I added I have 'make sticky' however, there is no prompt for remote access. (screen capture would be helpful, if you don't mind)

also, how do I edit IP of server or delete the server? I can't seem to find that option. I have to go into android system app and delete cache and data file to reset app.

I'm using Mezzmo full version 2.0.2

    Hi,
The Mezzmo Android app does not need a username and password to access the server via DLNA remotely, once you have setup the Remote access port in 'Media Server Settings' in Mezzmo the description document from the Mezzmo server will contain both the local network URL and the remote URL for accessing the Mezzmo server. In the Mezzmo Android app setting the server to sticky will keep the server in the list then the app can switch between the local and remote access.

When you long click on a server that is available for remote access there will be a checkbox for Remote Access which you can check to use the remote access URL.

To delete a server once you have added it you can long press on it in the list then uncheck the box for 'make sticky' and it will be removed from the list.

I tried remote access using the Mezzmo Android app here and it looks like the Mezzmo server is denying access, we will investigate this and fix the problem for the next minor update. If you send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com we can provide a patch to fix this.

here's screen capture from my tablet.

    Screenshot_2016-05-16-09-22-53.png

    I don't see remote access

also, I did uncheck box but when I go back in, it is still listed under servers. see below

    Screenshot_2016-05-16-09-25-48.png

and still there is no way to edit the server IP address.

Lastly, I think not requiring password on the app is a big security risk. Internal network, I don't think it's necessary to have a password but from external, I think it should be like the web version.

P.S. Do I need to do initial setup on tablet with in the internal network? Because that's not possible at the moment. Also, I just had Mezzmo update from play store, I hope that was the minor update.

    Hi,
the settings should look like the following screenshot if your Mezzmo server is version 5.0 and you are running Mezzmo Pro:
    device-2016-05-17-103713.png

If Mezzmo is not registered the Remote Access is disabled, you will need to register Mezzmo by running the Mezzmo application on your PC then from the help menu select Register then enter your registration details.

After registering when you are in the local network and the Mezzmo server is discovered you can long click on the server and you should see the dialog from the screenshot above.

I tested adding a server using the remote ip address here and it was added correctly by using http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/desc (where xxx is the ip value), then when I long clicked on the server I added to the list I could uncheck 'Make Sticky' then refresh the list and it was removed. The server shown in your server list does not show the ip address under the name which could indicate a problem.

The Mezzmo server only accepts valid SOAP requests from the Mezzmo app so this is why a username and password is not used, if a request is not valid it is ignored.

The update from the play store was a minor update to fix some crashes experienced by a few users.

I didn't even know that Remote Access was an option for the App. I am having the same trouble, though.

I am having no trouble with local access through the app and I am having no trouble with remote access through the browser but I cannot access remotely via the App. I also do not get the "Remote Access" Tick Box. I have disabled the software firewall on the server and still getting nothing.

Also, when I check the Tick Box for "Make Sticky", it doesn't stick if I hit the refresh symbol. Everything resets and I have to go back in and check "Make Sticky" again. It's not very sticky.

Finally, is the Android App going to be made available for the FireTV via the Amazon App Store?

OK, so I uninstalled the app from my phone and then reinstalled it via the Play Store (v2.0.3). Now I am getting the Tick Box for remote access. However, when I turn the Wi-Fi off on my phone and try to access Mezzmo over the internet the media list comes up empty and if I return to the Server list, the little "cloud" logo is gone. When I long press the Server name, "Remote Access" is unticked again.

    Just won't stay.

When the app tries to connect to the Mezzmo server the local network address is tried first and if this is able to connect then it is used instead of remote access, if the local connection fails then remote access is tried to see if a connection can be made. So if you have wifi on the app will succeed in connecting to the server on the local network then turning off Wi-Fi and switching to Mobile Data will not trigger switching back to Remote Access until you refresh the server list or exit the app and restart it.

Nope, no go. I have updated to v2.0.4 and tried it on both a BlackBerry Priv and an LG G3. Remote Access via the app will not work no matter how I set it up. Am I missing something on the server end of things?
