Thread: Pre-transcoding

    Default Pre-transcoding

First of all thank you for Mezzmo 5, the ability to just use a URL to access the Library is brilliant and makes it a lot easier.

However, I have a question on pre-transcoding. In order to ensure that transition from one photo to another is a quick as possible I pre-transcoded all 12,500 images in the library for Web Access > Admin. I then added a few images, updated the library and transcoded again this time selecting "only pre-transcode files that have not been pre-transcoded yet". I then get a message "some of the selected files have already been transcoded - do you still wish to transcode them". If I say yes I get a queue of all 12,500 files again. If I say no I still get 12,100 queued with 400 skipped. The pre-transcode library (purely for the images) is already 4.75 GB. Am I duplicating the pre-transcode and why is it doing them all again?

    Thanks

One possible reason is that you have reached your maximum transcoding folder size and Mezzmo is auto-deleting transcoded files to keep your transcoded files under your size limit. You can specify & check the transcoded folder size limit in the Transcoding Settings dialog.

Unfortunately, that is not the reason. The limit is 20GB and I am currently in below 5GB. I am puzzled why when I select the "only pre-transcode files that have not been pre-transcoded yet" that it then comes up with "some of the selected files have already been transcoded - do you still wish to transcode them". Surely it should only be selecting files that have not been transcoded? Thanks

Understand. We'll test that here and make sure it is working correctly.

Sorry to revisit this one. Two points:
    1) If you select the "only pre-transcode files that have not been pre-transcoded yet" and then when it comes up with "some of the selected files have already been transcoded - do you still wish to transcode them" you say "No", it does only transcode the "new" ones. However, the second prompt should not be necessary as you have already selected not to transcode files already transcoded

    2) I have two web users Admin and User1. Why is it necessary to transcode for each user? Surely a web user is a web user? This doubles the transcoding time and storage.

Stiill think Mezzmo 5 (and your forum response) is brilliant!

Thanks for the further feedback. As mentioned, we'll review the pre-transcoding issues you have noted and make sure all is working for the next Mezzmo version.
