Default Spotify on PC, stream to devices???

    Hey,

I just started using Spotify on my PC to play audio, and I was wondering if I could manipulate mezzmo to absorb this audio, and distribute out to my various tv's and mobile devices around my network?

Is mezzmo capable of this kind of thing? Or is mezzmo a 'player only' whereby it needs a file to play in order to serve to other devices?

Do I make sense with what I am asking? I am still confused about how it will work myself so it's hard to explain....

    Cheers
    -Ben

    Hi Ben,

One thing you can do to accomplish what you want it use Mezzmo v5.0's new "Add To Library" -> "Add Capture Device" feature. It lets you add any DirectShow capture device/filter as a video or audio source into your Mezzmo library. This means that you can stream whatever audio is playing on your PC to devices in your home.

    Follow these steps:
    1. Click 'Add To Library' -> 'Add Capture Device' to display the Add Capture Device dialog.
    2. On the Add Capture Device dialog, select the Audio device combo box and select "Stereo Mix" from the list. If you don't see Stereo Mix in the list, then see the "If Stereo Mix Is Not Listed" section below.
    3. Click OK and you will have a new audio item in your Mezzmo library. You can find it under Music -> Recently Added.
    4. Start your Mezzmo server and try streaming it to a device in your home. You should hear whatever is playing on your PC - for example, if you are playing Spotify on your PC, then it will be streamed to your device .

If Stereo Mix Is Not Listed:

    1. Go to Windows Control Panel and search for Sound and select it.
    2. On the Sound window, select the Recording Tab.
    3. Right click on Microphone in the list and tick the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices menu items. Now, Stereo Mix (and other devices) will appear in the list.
    4. Select Stereo Mix from the list and click the Properties button. In the Properties dialog, change the Device usage to Use this device (enable).
    5. Go back to Mezzmo and ddisplay the Add Device Capture dialog again. Hopefully, Stereo Mix will be displayed now.

    Hey Paul,

Thanks heaps for the run through, works perfectly (10 sec delay between PC and TV's, its to be expected when mezzmo is transcoding on the fly).

I did have to enable Stereo Mix, so thanks for including those instructions also! I would have been completely stuck otherwise.

    Thanks again.

Glad it's working, Ben . Thanks for letting us know.

We've also put the instructions into our new Mezzmo wiki - http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...computer_audio.

Hope you enjoy streaming with Mezzmo!
