Default Episodes on TV series DVD ISO images..

There isn't a way for Mezzmo to "see inside" a DVD ISO from a set of DVDs containing multiple episodes of a TV series, and that's a shame. There's LOTS of TV series on DVD, typically two to five episodes per DVD disc. Is there at least some way to retrieve episode metadata using a filename as a starting point - Such as "Outer Limits Original Series Season 1 Disc 2" - ??? Surely there's data out there somewhere which lists the episodes on each disc in a multi-disc TV series set....

For now, I am using VLC to play the TV series ISO's, it plays them like a DVD, you get the menu and the episodes.... VLC is also a better way to play DVDs with a lot of "extras" which are hard to find using Mezzmo.

Maybe Mezzmo ought to have an option to mount DVD ISO's and play them with the menu and so on, like VLC.

It's soooo much easier storing a 1,000 disc DVD library using a Sony media changer to read the discs 200 at a time to ISO images using ImgBurn's Media Changer feature, rather than ripping them and storing their constituent file structures. I believe there's less data loss - better picture quality- using an ISO rather than decompressing / recompressing to save the files, then transcoding again for playback. With the ISO you've got the full data set, and it only has to be transcoded once for playback.

    Hi,
It is not possible to stream the DVD menus using Mezzmo because there is no method available to get feedback on which menu item is selected so Mezzmo reads the contents of the DVD and tries to find the main video titles then allows you to stream the videos to the devices. If Mezzmo does not detect shorter content you can change the minimum duration limit by editing your MezzmoMediaServer.ini file in your Mezzmo database folder to add in the General section DvdMinDuration=300 where 300 is the number of seconds. The default value is 15 minutes (900 seconds) so any video titles shorter than this will be excluded.

    Milosz,

Nice to see a fellow Outer Limits fan out there. We may have cold hands, but we have warm hearts, in the face of a Bolero experiment. I am too faced with that issue of multiple TV episodes on one disc, and it's even more frustrating with 12 chapters of Flash Gordon and Batman '66! After weeks of experimenting with just about everything from Handbrake to DVD Fab, the best solution I have found so far is to re-encode using Video Converter Ultimate. This is not freeware, but there is a limited trial with five-minute limitation. What I like is that I can drag in the entire ISO, and it will split out all of the titles and chapters. It then simplifies the process in that each chapter, Easter egg, trailer, whatever can be named before the final render. I am re-rendering everything into high-bandwidth H264 /MP4's and have cannot see any degradation of image or sound. What is obvious is a reduction in file size between 50- 75%. Also loading is quicker to the players. This process also cleans up the Mezzmo database so that each file is its own segment. I group them accordingly in the database by using the series field. So now my all my "Limits" can appear in their own active directory.

If you don't want to convert and just split DVD shrink is still available online. That product has not been supported now for about five years.

I hope this simplifies your quest as I know the stuff gets really time-consuming, especially when threads get sidetracked.

    Good luck,
    -Dave
