    Default Mezzmo + Roku 2 = Awesome!

Hi, I just happened to be wandering around the list of apps on my Roku 2 and found that Mezzmo has an app there now! Awesome! Thanks very much, folks!

A few things that I found:

    a) Initial loading/locating my mezzmo server was a little slow - took maybe 10-15 mins. I'm on a wired Cat5e network, so I don't think network would be an issue. PC is an older machine running Windows 10 - not the slowest in the world, but not blazingly fast.
    b) Click on MVI movies simply made a 'Roku noise' and returned without playing the video. It could be transcoding, but it wasn't apparent.
    c) When I navigated to a folder of pictures that had about 350 items, the app hung at loading. (could have been caused by b)
    d) It would be nice to have a looping mechanism for pictures (for slideshows).
    e) It would be nice to have the option to play music during slideshows.
    f) This might a DLNA limitation, but it would be nice to pre-fetch the next song in a list so that you don't have the pause of the next song loading. I know there is the Gapless option, but it would be nice if Mezzmo did it for me.

    That's it, for now.

    Thanks again!

    A few more requests...

    a) Display the current playing track.
    b) Allow a screensaver to come up with music but don't allow Roku to go into power save mode and stop the music.

Sorry, for (d) in my earlier post - I just found the looping option - duh.

    Hi,
it is possible to play music during slideshows of photos, you need to browse to the music first then start it playing and then you can browse to the photos and start playing the slideshow.

For issue a) was Mezzmo server already running when you tried to find the server or did you start the server then try to find it?
For issue b) can you please post the ffmpeg information of the file here (right-click on the file in Mezzmo and select 'Get FFmpeg Information...' then copy and paste)
For issue c) does this always happen on the same folder? Are you able to load other folders of pictures without a problem?
For issue f) we will investigate adding an option to always play as gapless so that the music plays like a radio station, this would require transcoding

We will also look at adding a current playing track display and allowing the screen saver during music

It is awesome. I can see it having the potential to be one of the premier Roku and/or Smart TV apps. I can now plan on retiring our seriously out-dated WD TV live boxes.

One issue I saw - Substation Alpha (SSA) subtitles in MKV files are being rendered in only the most rudimentary way. White text, black background and bottom screen fixed positions. Any SSA tags for color, positioning or font are being displayed on the screen without rendering.

It's a Roku 2 and Mezzmo 5.0.5 with the Roku profile in place.

This may be a Roku issue, but I thought that the Mezzmo would transcode if a subtitle file could not be rendered on the device.

    Just an FYI.

    Hi Jim,
glad to hear you like the Mezzmo Roku Channel. The Roku supports WebVTT subtitles which can use cues to change text colour and position so Mezzmo could transcode the subtitle to WebVTT and add the colour and position changes. Can you please send the SSA subtitle file to support [at] conceiva [dot] com so we can investigate? You may need to go to the properties of the file in Mezzmo and on the Subtitles tab select the subtitle then click the button to extract it and then find the file in the extracted subtitles folder (find this location in Options under subtitles).
