Default Regarding creating a backup of the database

Aside from using the "backup" button in tools - options, if I were to stop the mezzmo service, and then backup the database using either Explorer or a XCOPY command, is it the same thing?

Or does the "backup" do some things on the back end ?

I'm asking this because lately, for some unknown reason (those are the worst kind of reasons BTW), I seem to be losing my drive mapping in explorer during the backup operations, but not through normal copy operations.

    Hi,
during the backup process some of the values in the database like the path to thumbnail files are updated so that they match the new path where the database is backed up to. If you just copy the database files to a backup folder this will be fine as long as when you restore the backup it is copied to the same folder.
