Thread: Season Posters

    Default Season Posters

How do you get Mezzmo to read season posters for TV series?

So far I have "folder.jpg" images in the "Season XX" subfolders plus I have season image files in Kodi fashion with the "tvshow.nfo" files but if I create an active playlist with a season field Mezzmo runs off to the internet and downloads a bunch of inappropriate images.

Season images reside inside the tvshow folder
    - season[XX]-(poster/banner/fanart).(png/jpg)
    - season-all-(poster/banner/fanart).(png/jpg}
    - season-specials-(poster/banner/fanart).(png/jpg)

Actually, it seems to be ignoring the series.xml and tvshow.nfo files completely.

If I disable internet metadata I get nothing except artwork and details for the individual episodes.

The options clearly say "series.xml" though, and XBMC .nfo files. Kodi can read my .nfo files fine and the fact that the episodes work fine means Mezzmo has no problem with the symbolic links I use...

Does Mezzmo just not store metadata for series or seasons?

That would make the playlists too fiddly to consider using.

series.xml files are only used when getting metadata for files and are not used when getting metadata for active playlists. We can investigate possibly using the series.xml information for the active playlists in a future update.

I would to throw my hat in the ring for requesting this.
Personally, I'd like metadata retrieval/display feature parity for the active playlist type and folders. I've been having a heck of a time getting season art to show up for each season correctly in an active playlist and then I stumbled on this thread.

It would also be nice if the backdrop art was sourced from -fanart or something similar. Right now it looks like it uses folder or maybe poster art.

The 'backend' features of Mezzmo give it a powerful advantage over other products in this space but I think there are opportunities in the cosmetic/art areas. Some great progress has been made by taking control of the DMP with the Kodi plugin and the Mezzmo apps.

For series information Mezzmo does a lookup on thetvdb.org to get the poster and backdrop for the season and also a description, if you have the option to get metadata from Internet sources turned off then this information will be retrieved from the first file in the playlist.

Thanks Peter. Is that also true for Season info?

Season info reuses the series info so there is currently no specific information for each season.
