Default Can't sort photo files in date taken sequence

I have purchased Mezzmo to stream photos from my computer in my study to our Sony TV in the lounge and include them in a slideshow. The photos are from a number of sources so the filenames are in different formats so they need to be sorted by "date taken". Mezzmo seems to use "release date" for this. Unfortunately, Mezzmo seems to largely ignore the time taken element, so although the pictures appear within the correct day, they are not necessarily in the right sequence. It is possible to get them in the right sequence by changing the View to "details" and sorting on the release date column, but as soon as you change the view or otherwise exit that window, they revert to the wrong sequence. Can you advise if I doing something wrong, or is there another way to achieve what I want.

    Thanks
    Richard Skeet

    Hi Richard,

The Details view lets you sort the files in your Mezzmo (Windows) app. It does not affect how the files are streamed to your device(s).

To change the way the files are sorted when displayed on your devices(s), you should right-click on the folder/playlist in the tree in Mezzmo (Windows) app and click Properties. On the Playlist Properties dialog, change the "Sort By" value to the attribute that you want. You may need to scroll down to see the "Sort By" combo box. Once changed, click OK to save your changes and they try listing the photos on your device now. You will probably have to exit the folder and re-enter it on your device to get it to update the photo list.

Also, you can check (or change) the date that Mezzmo is using for your photos using the Properties dialog for the file. Right-click on the photo in Mezzmo (Windows) and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, you will see date and year fields that Mezzmo has collected and uses when streaming your photos.

Paul - thanks for your attention, but as I said in my first post, when you use the "Sort By Release Date (Ascending)" option in folder properties, Mezzmo only sorts by the date element and ignores the time, and therefore multiple pictures taken on the same date will appear in random order. This seems to me to be an error in the sort process in Mezzmo which should be easy for you to correct.
An alternative approach would be to use a different field such as "sort title" including an increasing sequence number, but I don't know how I could automatically populate that field without having to go to each photo individually.
Can you suggest what the solution could be?
