    Default Intel Quick Sync

    Hello,

I am a huge fan of Mezzmo and have been using it for over 3 years. I have some questions. I have recently purchased an Intel NUC 6th generation Skylake and I see that Intel Quick Sync which enables faster Hardware based encoding and decoding to and from H.264 /Mpeg2.

I know that mezzmo uses FFMPEG for it's back end. And according to FFMPEG https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/HWAccelIntro
    Intel Quick Sync is supported

Does the Mezzmo system utilize this backend transcoding when decoding Mpeg2 to say H.264 on the fly? I have alot of purchased DVDs I have ripped and the kids like to watch them on the Roku. Roku doesn't have Mpeg2 support. Also older Android tablets render Mpeg2 in software which is slow and choppy. I prefer to use device profiling to only display h.264 to these devices which looks beautiful but on the fly transcoding is laggy and buffers alot due to the transcoder not keeping up. I suspect if Intel Quick Sync where enabled in ffmpeg maybe hardware would blaze through it.

Performance : " A benchmark from Tom's Hardware showed in 2011 that Quick Sync could convert a 449 MB, four-minute 1080p file to 1024×768 in 22 seconds. The same encoding using only software took 172 seconds"

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
