Default Mezzmo (PC) - Issues 5.1.1.0

First issue is I am trying to do a active playlist with all my photos / videos sorted by year and month, however I noticed some videos were not showing up in the list, and I discovered why.
upon further research I found out my old Samsung camera named files llike 20170123_182319.mp4 and my new camera names them like VID_20170123_182259.mp4, all the videos listed as VID_20170123_182259.mp4 were missing the year attribute, and the ones with the older style filename had the attribute, so I simply tried to rename the new video from VID_20170123_182259.mp4 -> 20170123_182259.mp4 and low and behold the attribute got added when I updated the folder, but I don't want to rename all my files, I hope conceiva can fix this.

Bug 2, I am constantly trying to get my Media Renders to show up in Mezzmo , I have Mezzmo for android, and BubbleUPNP and sometimes it takes 10 minutes for the render to show in the "play to" side or the right click menu (vs instant in other programs like Upplay), firewall is disabled, no restrictions on network to rule that out, another problem is I have a Linux render that never shows (but works fine with the built in windows Cast To menu & Upplay & android mezzmo, bubbleupnp..etc), the linux server is gmrender-resurrect. not a huge priority, I would prefer the Android renders to show up faster so I can cast to my TV Box.
btw this is not a issue in the android APP, all the renders show up quickly, just the PC software is having this issue.

3 when you remove files it asks you to also remove the files from the library, if you click NO, I assume the files and covers, metadata are still stored in the DB, however there is no way to remove them later from the DB, without re-adding the folder then removing it again. (and of course you have to remember what you added) so so better DB control would be nice .

    4. If you use the "Play To" command on the PC and send a video to a render, it will play on the render device like it should, however lets say the render device is Mezzmo or BubbleUPNP on Android if you close Mezzmo(android) or BubbleUPNP(android), and then re-open Mezzmo or BubbleUPNP on the device it somehow it will start and "auto play" the next file, btw this does not happen using android to play a file to another android , so it's a bug in the PC software.

    Windows 10 x64.
    Mezzmo trial.

    Hi,
we have made a change to skip any text before the date on the filename so this should work better when parsing your filenames with the leading VID_. Please send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we will send you a patch to try.

Bug2: We will investigate this here to see if we can find any bottlenecks in the code causing the slow discovery of devices.

3: You can run Maintain Library with the option to remove files from the library that cannot be found on disk.

4: This is a feature of the Mezzmo software on the PC that allows you to continue playing from where you left off. So if you have Mezzmo on the PC set to play photos to a TV for example you can turn off the TV then when it is turned on again the photos will start playing again automatically. You can prevent this by pressing stop in the Play to pane in Mezzmo on the PC or exit the Mezzmo application on the PC and the play to information will be cleared.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

Great, looking forward to trying the patch I sent an email over., also I was wondering for videos that don't have a date in the filename maybe if it could have a option to scan and use the created date from the filesystem properties as part of the metadata search (as a last resort) -

as for issue 4, ok I can see where that can be a useful feature, maybe you can you add a clear all / stop playing / disconnect button so if needed it will stop auto playing without needing to exit the Mezzmo application, other then that I am pretty happy with the program.

btw: I haven't used the transcode feature yet since my android tv box supports all the latest formats and hvec, but the other day I was using dvdfab to convert some of my older dvd's to h265 and when it encoded at 400fps using Nvidia NVENC / CUDA I was thinking that would be a nice addition in mezzmo for on the fly encoding (if ever needed)

    edit:
one other thing, I like the username aspect of the program, do you have plans to implement this into the android end, where different users can get access/blocked to different sections of the server, currently the username is only useful for the web interface, I know there is the pin option, but that unlocks everything, so I think doing a per-user might a better option for more flexibility, or maybe expand on the username function but just tie a unique pin number to each username that the android client can use and it would auto filter based on the username access...

Pressing the stop button in the play to pane will stop auto playing when the device is turned on again.

Currently we don't have plans to implement the username aspect in the android app, we have support for content ratings and also playlist permissions.

We have not received your email yet so I sent you a private message through the forum with the details of the patch.

Excellent Thanks! I just tested the patch and so far everything is looking good, all the videos now show the year & month and are sorting properly in the active playlist., the only minor issue I see is if a video doesn't have any date in the filename then it won't get sorted,- since I am just sorting my camera videos / pictures that's not a big deal in my case since they all have a date in the filename.

    -------------------

    Edit:
Could you implement one more thing,
I usually have several Ethernet networks, could you add a option to listen on a specific one or ip range , (ie: so when I connect to a vpn network the server doesn't broadcast on that network too.), and another strange bug happens, when connected to a VPN the Mezzmo pc interface stops finding my lan clients so it appears to only scan for clients on the new VPN ip range, I can no longer use the 'Play To' option for lan clients since it no longer finds them, I need to access the server manually from the client end.

but mainly for security I would like to limit it to a single interface if possible.

(I think this might be whats messing up device discovery too, since even if I exit the vpn, it still won't show my renders in the play to menu for awhile or until I restart it)

Kinda off topic but in the Android Mezzmo app, I have this 4k video (hvec 10bit) that plays like a slideshow using the Mezzmo built in video player, I tried HW and SW mode but both equal the same buggy playback, however if I use MXPlayer Pro to play the file (either HW or HW+) it plays smooth as butter.

    Stream #0:0: Video: hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv), 3840x1600, SAR 1:1 DAR 12:5, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 1k tbn, 23.98 tbc (default)
Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: aac (LC), 48000 Hz, 7.1, fltp (default)

Glad to hear the patch worked. We will investigate adding an option to select the Interface(s) for the server to listen on so that you can de-select the VPN.

The problem with the Mezzmo Android video playback could be due to the hardware decoder being rejected and a software decoder being used instead. Have you added any extra codec packages for MX Player that allows it to play the hevc video?

Thanks!, That would be absolutely great to have an option for interface selection, it would be a huge step making this program perfect, it's pretty frustrating when the vpn interrupts the server
(btw I was testing a program called ForceBindIP.exe that forcefully binds a program to a IP, and when I started Mezzmo with it, I found that Mezzmo started finding the Linux render I was having issues with before, it could never find it, so by forcing Mezzmo to a ip enabled it to have better detection of the local dlna renders, not sure if ForceBindIP works with the server end since it's a spawned process from mezzmo.exe, but still interesting).

for the android mezzmo player you might be right, it shows HW in the playbar but toggling it doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference so it could have issues switching,
I have no extra codec packages for Mx Player, it can play it in (HW, HW+) mode lag free, SW mode gives a green screen on this movie for some reason, VLC can play the movie fine (with hardware acceleration is set to Full acceleration), and I also tested the stock android 'video player' and it also plays it fine which was surprising, bs player has issues playing it, but I think bs player has issues with all 4k videos.

it's not a huge issue since it plays most videos fine, but if it can be fixed then even better, perhaps it's a issue with 4k h265, right now I don't have many other 4k videos so I can't see if any other 4k/hvec videos also have the problem in the mezzmo video player.

The MezzmoMediaServer.exe could be used with ForceBindIP.exe the same way you run Mezzmo.exe, make sure the Mezzmo server is not running first then try running MezzmoMediaServer.exe with the parameter /RunAsUser and this will run the server.

The current Conceiva Mezzmo (Android) profile does not have h265 support enabled so possibly Mezzmo is transcoding the 4K file and this is why it plays poorly when you stream it. The profile also has a maximum resolution set of 1080p so this can also trigger transcoding. You could try going to the properties of the file in Mezzmo and on the Transcoding tab click on 'Use Original File...' and select the Android device then try streaming it.

Awesome thanks for the server tip, I was wondering how to manually start it.

I'm pretty sure it's not transcoding it since I fully disabled all transcoding options in the server, and when I play through mxplayer or other players I am still streaming it through mezzmo app or bubbleupnp app, I just select the option to use an alternative video player

We will try playing some 4K h265 videos in the app here to see if we can reproduce the problem.
