Default Last Played Date updating too soon

I have Increment Play Count set to 90% so partially watched shows are indicated as unwatched.
Recently I have been testing a new media player by playing different videos for a couple of minutes only. These videos are getting the Last Played Date updated at the start of playback rather than at the 90% mark. This means they appear at the top of the Most Recently Watched list even though they have not been watched or had their Play Count incremented. Bug or valid reason? If there is a valid reason can this be optional?

Edit: Last Played Date is being updated when playback is Stopped, not at start of playback. Sorry.

I believe it is by design so that we can easily find partially watched shows / movies. Without the last played date stamp there wouldn't be an easy way to find something which you started watching and want to resume. If you want to fix the way they display for you add a play count is greater than 0 to your smart playlist and it will only show things where the play count has incremented and you can still sort on the last played time.

Thanks, JB. I already have the playlist setup as you suggest with Play Count greater than Zero, which works for anything unwatched, but if I play a previously watched video for just a few minutes it jumps to the top of the Recently Watched list. It's a minor annoyance but I would like to have more control over it. Like an option that says Time Stamp Last Played Date when Play Count Increments.

It could be a bug, the playcount should only be updated when the bytes streamed is greater than or equal to the percentage set, if you enable diagnostic logging http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=using_logging&s[]=diagnostic then after restarting your Mezzmo media server try reproducing the problem by playing a file on the media player then send us the logs so we can see where the play count gets updated.

Peter, Play Count appears to be correctly updating at the selected percentage. My query is about the Last Played Date time stamp which appears to be updating when playback is stopped, whether or not the selected percentage has been reached. I would like the option of Last Played Date being updated at the same time that Play Count is incremented. Hope that makes more sense.
    Cheers,
    Marty Davey.

the last played date is always set so that you can find shows you recently watched that did not reach the playcount %, this is by design as Jeff said. You can add a rule to the playlist where playcount must equal 0 and this will only list shows that have not been watched.

In practice, this isn't always helpful however. For example, my TV plays a preview of the video as I scroll through the list...constantly updating the most recently played list, even though on a few seconds may have been played...

The preview is requesting the video so technically this is correct for Mezzmo to show these as being played since Mezzmo has no way of knowing it is a preview. Is it possible to turn off the preview on the device?
