Thread: 5.1.2.0 issue with folders containing dots

Question 5.1.2.0 issue with folders containing dots

    Hi there,

I recently installed the beta version due to issues with the Windows 10 Creators Update. Since then, the display name of a folder is messed up if it contains a dot.

For example, my TV series live in a folder called I:\Media\Series. When I open Mezzmo and expand the "Series" folder, both the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and 11.22.63 folders appear exactly as follows:

    Agents of S.H.I.E.Lnts of S.H.I.E.L.D
    11.22dia\Series\11.22.63

Note that the above are not typos, that's exactly how they appear. The logic seems to be that if the folder name contains at least one dot, it appears to be underlaying the full path name (i.e. including I:\Media\Series\), and then overlaying just the folder name but - only up to the last dot.

Note that folders without a dot in the name are displayed fine.

Is this something you're aware of or do you need me to help by supplying some more information?

    Thank you,
    FranticOrange.

We have fixed the problem, please download the beta from http://www.conceiva.com/downloads/5120_Mezzmo-setup.exe and run the installer to repair your file set then try browsing the folder in Mezzmo.

Thanks Peter - that did the trick. Many thanks for the quick turnaround.

I have a second question - for folders that have an apostrophe (e.g. Da Vinci's Demons), they display fine in Mezzmo on my PC but when displaying on my TV, they appear with &; in place of the apostrophe, i.e. Da Vinci&;s Demons. Is there any way I can fix this?

My TV is a Samsung UE43J5600.

    Thanks again,
    FranticOrange.

Mezzmo replaces apostrophes with ' so that when put in XML they do not cause problems. The TV should replace the ' with the apostrophe but it appears that this is not happening where it is just replacing the apos and leaving the & and ;. If you go to the properties of the file in Mezzmo does the title appear correctly?

I have the same problem after the Win 10 64 bit Creators update. I just want to let you know that the beta file above cures the problem completely. Thank you.

    Thanks for the response Peter.

I'm away from home today but I'll check the answer to your question this evening. I recall from memory that it appears correct everywhere from within Mezzmo itself - it's just on the TV that the issue appears.

    I'll confirm this later though.

    Hi Peter.

Yes - I recalled correctly, all appears fine in Mezzmo. I've worked around the issue by using the alternative apostrophe character ` instead of the standard '. It doesn't get URL encoded so looks fine on the TV. It's not perfect but better than the &; that was being displayed.

    Thank

I seem to be getting the same sort of error when collecting metadata fromt the internet.
Recently I had to do a complete reinstall of Mezzmo and I recreated my library from scratch. But that didn't quite work out, as you can see.
    1.jpg

Movies and TV shows get mixed up and a lot of names still have the dots in it. All the episodes of Stranger Things are named "E001: Chapter One: The vanishing of Will Byers". A lot of movies aren't even recognized and are left in the "Folders" folder.

When I try to find the metadata manually, it doesn't get much better:

See how Mezzmo mixes up the 2160p with an episode number and the dots aren't removed automatically from the search.

I did a full reinstall of Mezzmo, restarted my pc, checked for any left Conceiva/Mezzmo files or folders, all seemed clean. Installed latest Mezzmo (5.1.3.0) and did a new "Setup Your Mezzmo Library". Same result. Even movies that were previously detected fine are now messed up.

Anyone got a solution? Any help is much appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    -Blue

    Hi,
can you please post a screenshot of your Metadata Retrieval Settings from the Video tab of the dialog so that we can see if you have 'Get text metadata from file path' enabled as this should parse the filename and remove dots and resolutions. http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...ings#video_tab
