I pre-transcoded the file using the Mezzmo (android) device profile, but the problem is still there. I even replaced the original file with the transcoded one to make sure the newer one was playing.

Here is the FFMPEG for the transcoded file:

I tried streaming a similar movie here to our FireTV and it did not have the issue during the panning sequence at the start of Secret Life of Pets. It was a lower resolution version so possibly this was why. Could you please try making a sample of the first ten minutes of the movie and then send it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. To create a sample please see https://superuser.com/questions/3773...on-with-ffmpeg

Finally got around to testing the HW/SW decoding on both the FireTV and the FireTV Stick. The FireTV Stick lacks the resources to playback my large BD rips with the SW decoder so it was just a jumpy, pausing mess. However, playback on the FireTV Box with the Software decoding was smooth, the way I would expect. Turning the HW decoding back on and it gets jittery again.

This would indicate that it is a problem with the codec being used for HW decoding, can you please enable logging in the settings of the app then exit and start the app again and try playing the video with HW enabled then disable logging and send us the log (you may need to install a file explorer app to copy the log from the /sdcard/conceiva/mezzmo folder) and we should be able to see which codec is being used.

I was finally able to cut the sample today. I just sent it over. I did confirm that the sample does exhibit the same issue when played on the fire tv box with the Mezzmo app.

Thanks, we tested it here and there was a noticeable jump when the titles appeared in the city, if I turned on SW it was much worse. We will check to see which codec is being used for HW decoding to see if there are any alternatives available.

There is only one codec available for hardware decoding so it is not possible to improve the decoding performance. Reducing the bitrate and/or resolution of the video through transcoding appears to be the only way to remove the jitters and smooth out the playback.

I have also seen reports that 24fps videos have a problem on the FireTV http://www.aftvnews.com/fire-tv-upda...kodi-and-spmc/

Are VLC and/or Kodi doing some post processing then because the issues only exist with playback through the internal video player?

Kodi does have a fix for the 24 fps issue http://www.aftvnews.com/fire-tv-upda...kodi-and-spmc/, we will need to check to see if something similar can be done for the internal video player.
