In Opera to get the right hand mouse button DownloadStudio menu, first make sure that you have checked the Opera menus in the DownloadStudio Options dialog box (Web Browser Integration > Opera page).

Then after installing the DownloadStudio menus into Opera, go to the Preferences screen in Opera, click the Advanced tab and select Toolbars. Under menu setup, select 'DownloadStudio menu' and click OK.

Unlike in Firefox and Internet Explorer, in Opera DownloadStudio does not have a toolbar.

    Hello.

I use Opera 9.52. Integration of DownloadStudio into Opera seems to be half-successful: While I can see the plug-ins installed, not all downloading links are captured by DownloadStudio, while all file types are properly associated with Click Catcher... For example, rar files are not captures, while exe files are captured. Also, new file types I add to get them captured by the program are not captured. Moreover, I could not get to work the right hand mouse button DownloadStudio menu: on the Preferences screen in Opera, in Advanced tab, Toolbars section, there is no 'DownloadStudio menu'. Any help, please?

I have done some testing and am unable to find any issues with Opera 9.52 on XP or Vista.

Moreover, I could not get to work the right hand mouse button DownloadStudio menu: on the Preferences screen in Opera, in Advanced tab, Toolbars section, there is no 'DownloadStudio menu'
Please make sure that opera is integrated correctly and the Opera menu options is checked along with the click monitoring plugins. If you go to the tools options dialog in DownloadStudio, try re-integrating into Opera. You should see a message that plugin settings have been changes successfully.

For example, rar files are not captures, while exe files are captured.
I have tested this and in my testing we are catching the correct mime types for RAR files. If you can post (or send a support email) the url of a RAR file which is not being caught I will take a look and ensure it is working. The url may have a strange mime type which we are not catching. You should be able to see the assocation between mime types and download method in the Opera advanced preferences. To check what mime type a url actually is you can paste the url into the DownloadStudio add job dialog and the mime type and file size will be displayed.

If there are still issues can you tell me what operating system are you using?
Have you, or do you have any other download managers integrated into opera?

I hope this information helps, let me know if there are still issues.

Hello and thanks for your support.

Eventually, I got the right hand mouse button DownloadStudio menu to work. To do that, I had to completely uninstall Opera application, then install it again, and so forth. Only then all necessary changes were made. Thank you again very much.

But as for capturing links to rar files, the problem still persists. No matter what the RAR file is, when I click the link I get what you can see on the screenshot:

This happens when I CLICK the link. If I COPY the link to clipboard, then it gets captured by the DownloadStudio at once. You see? Click - and no capturing. Copy the link to clipboard - and DownloadStudio pops up and works. Even if I check "Remember choice...", as suggested by Opera in the window you see above, any further attempts to download rar files by clicking on links end up with the same window, as you can see above. As you can see, I am downloading from Rapidshare.com. As for this, I am a premium Rapidshare user, direct download enabled, and rapidshare.com is deleted from Site Rules in DownloadStudio.

Also, I want to add "001", "002" and so forth file type support. So I added 001, 002, 003, 004 and so on to "Clipboard Monitoring". However, clicking then on files with this extension leads to no capturing. But if I copy the link, then it automatically captured by DownloadStudio. However, to copy manually the link is not the same as just clicking it and enjoying autmatic capturing, you know... Any help, please? With rar and other file types?

I am using Windows XP SP3
No other download managers are integrated into Opera

    Hi Snoory,

Glad you got the DownloadStudio menu in Opera working.

Now to get .rar file downloading working with your Opera...

I installed DownlaodStudio v5.0.4 and Opera 9.52 onto a clean XP SP3 test machine and logged into our test RapidShare Premium account using Opera. I then used your RapidShare URL in the screenshot to download the "Opera_952_10108_in.rar" file. I entered this URL into the address bar of Opera and clicked ENTER. Immediately Opera displayed its Downloading dialog (like your screenshot). I clicked Open on the Opera window and the DownloadStudio Add Job dialog was displayed and I could download the file using DownloadStudio. I also tried a few other rar files on RapidShare and all worked well.

When you click the Open button in the Opera Downloading window, what happens? The Add Job dialog from DownloadStudio should be displayed.

With regards clipboard monitoring, you can add more extensions (001, 002, etc.) into the Options dialog and these will be caught when you copy URLs with these extensions into the clipboard - but not when you click on them. The click monitoring in Opera is based on the MIME type of the URL. For example, a RAR file will typically have an "application/rar" MIME type and the DownloadStudio click catcher for compressed files has this MIME type in its list of MIME types to be caught. You cannot edit this list. However, you can go to Opera's Preferences dialog (Downloads tab) to make sure that the DownloadStudio catcher plug-ins are associated with the right MIME types.

I hope this helps you get up and running. Let us know if you still are having troubles.

    Hello Paul!

    Thank you!

You know, when clicking the Open button in the Opera Downloading window DownloadStudio window pops up and then I can download with it. Yes, it works this way. However, with each click this method leaves an extra Tab in Opera. If I have 10 rar files to download, then I have to manually close 10 Opera Tabs, which is not comfortable. These Opera tabs look like this:

By the way, clicking Back Button, as suggested on the picture, does not let me return to previous page. Instead, I get Opera Download Window again.

As for other extensions files and not being able to download them by CLICKING on them, I think this is not comfortable, too.

You know, I have used for a long time another commercial download manager (IDM) with Opera. It works with Opera like a charm: click monitoring is perfect, I can add ANY file type to its clipboard monitoring menu, and then I am able to download them by clicking them. No messing around with Opera download windows, Opera "Preferences" and other menus, MIME types and other stuff, no annoying empty Opera Tabs, no need to COPY the link. Just click the link (any extension!) - and downloading starts at once. Why DownloadStudio cannot be integrated into Opera in the same way? Why all these difficulties with rar and OTHER file types? For all those benefits, lots of menus, nice look and so forth, DownloadStudio has at least two significant disadvantages when used with Opera, as I described above.

    Hi Snoory,

I understand now. Click monitoring is working fine - except you are getting an extra (tab) window appearing. We'll look into this and see if we can remove it for the next release.

An alternative way is to select all the links on web page using your mouse and right-click to copy them into your clipboard. Then, go to DownloadStudio and click the Download/Add List Of Jobs. The URLs in the clipboard will be placed into the list and you can create all the downloads in one shot - rather than clicking on one after another in your browser. This may save you some time.

My usual downloading habits are to display the DownloadStudio Drop window by default. Then I just select all text on the web page and copy it into the clipboard. Then I right-click on the Drop window and choose "Add List of Jobs". This displays the Add List Of Jobs window with all the URLs. I remove any that I don't want to download, and click OK to download them all in one shot. I think its pretty handy.

Thanks for all your feedback - we'll look at further improving our Opera integration for the next release.

    Best regards,

    Paul Schumann.

Sometimes download links are presented on webpages in the form of "clickable" hyperlinks that have "..." in the middle of the link. I mean they can be often presented as follows: "http://nameofthesite.ru/files/17044768...r.1.part01.rar" If in this form and clickable, it is cannot be copied into the clipboard. It needs to be clicked.

Anyway, I want to thank you once again. You and Brent were very responsive and helpful. I believe that we can resolve any problem through good-minded communication considering your desire to improve your product.
