Thread: Playlist won't display titles, only filenames

    Question Playlist won't display titles, only filenames

    Good morning.

    I have a playlist file (say, test.pls) with the following contents:

    Code:
    [playlist]
    File1=I:\Media\Movies\Captain America\1 - Captain America - The First Avenger (2011).mkv
    Title1=Captain America - The First Avenger (2011)
    NumberOfEntries=1
    Version=2
    No matter what I do in Mezzmo, the Display Title always shows as the filename, and strangely all in lower case.

    My global settings are %FILENAME% (as I prefer this for most of my media library) but in the Playlist's properties I have them all set to %TITLE%.

    I'm running the latest version (5.1.2.0) - is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

    Thank you,
    FranticOrange.

    Hi,
    is the playlist a linked playlist to an m3u file? I tried this here and the title showed as the title when the display title settings were set to title. Can you please post an image of the playlist properties and also the properties of the file?

    Hi Peter,

    It's a linked playlist to a .pls file. I've attached a screenshot showing everything you've asked for, including the contents of the .pls file itself.

    Let me know if there's anything else you need from me.

    Mezzmo does not use the Title from the pls file, only the file path is used. The title in the Screenshot looks correct where the title is using the filename, if you have turned off getting metadata from the Internet then the title from the file will be used. The folder path is in lowercase but there is nothing I can find that will make the title lowercase so possibly it was the folder path that you were seeing in lowercase?

    Thanks for the response Peter.

    Do you know if there are any plans to implement support for the TitleX properties in .pls files (and the #EXTINF properties in .m3u files) as in this case I'd much rather see the assigned title from the playlist rather than the filename itself?

    And regarding the lowercase comment, none of my paths are lower case - my drive letters are all uppercase and my folder structure has an uppercase initial so I'm not sure how they got in there. That's not really an issue for me however, more of an observation.

    We have added support for getting the title from the playlist file, send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we will send you a patch.

    Hi Peter,

    I've tried the patched version of Mezzmo but the playlist still only displays the filename. I tried removing the linked playlist and adding it in again but I get the same results. The contents of my DC.pls file are:

    Code:
    [playlist]
    File1=I:\Media\Movies\Man of Steel (2013).mp4
    Title1=MoS
    File2=I:\Media\Movies\Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice (2016).mp4
    Title2=BvS
    File3=I:\Media\Movies\Suicide Squad (2016).mkv
    Title3=SS
    NumberOfEntries=3
    Version=2
    Note the very short titles. These entries appear as per the attached screen capture.

    Is there something I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Frantic.

    Hi Frantic,
    you will need to remove the files from the Mezzmo library then add them again so that Mezzmo will repopulate the metadata fields, try deleting Man of Steel from the library then browse the playlist to add it again to see if the title is set correctly.
