For the Chromecast flac will be transcoded but for the Roku flac files should be played natively. Chromecast devices are usually wireless devices so it will depend upon the strength of the wifi signal and bandwidth, you could try pre-transcoding a flac file for the chromecast to see if it plays without the choppiness. Is your Roku connected via ethernet or wifi?
