    Question Samsung UE32M5520

    Hi guys,

I have a new Samsung UE32M5520 (2018 model) which Mezzmo is recognising as "Samsung 5 Series (32)" and is using the Device Profile "Samsung C". This seems to mean that many natively supported video formats are not being delivered without transcoding. Do you have a more up to date Device Profile (Samsung M?) for this TV that I could try out for you?

    Thanks,
    Frantic.

One option you can try is to disable transcoding for the device by unclicking the transcode incompatible media types in the transcoding tab and see what doesn't play. That will give you an idea of how many of your videos will play natively.

    Thanks for the the suggestion.

However, transcoding is always off for all devices as I prefer to have video formats that are natively supported by all devices where possible. The new TV supports Matroska (mkv), but when playing through Mezzmo (without transcoding) then this results in an "unsupported format" message. This happens with a variety of different Matroska videos, all of which work on the older Samsung TVs I have on the network.

I turned transcoding on temporarily as part of my investigation, but that's not the ideal solution for me when I know the TV supports the format natively. So I'm hoping for an updated/new Device Profile to test out for the Conceiva guys.

    Hi Peter,

Just thought I'd let you know that the Samsung M profile seems to work much better - all videos I played worked fine with transcoding turned off.

    Thanks for the quick response,
    Frantic.

    Peter,
Do you have a Samsung N profile?
I just bought (but have not installed) a Samsung UN55NU8000, and wanted your recommendation re: which profile to use.
