Default Mezzmo crashes with an 'access violation'

Afternoon - I re-installed Mezzmo on our Windows Server Essentials 2016, all went well until I tried to move the Database folder, but then Mezzmo crashed with 'Read from location 0000084 caused an access violation'. I unistalled again but it keeps happening. I have the error logs here on OneDrive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,
the crash report shows that the database is not open, possibly due to permissions or some other issue. We can send you the latest beta to try if you send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com

'Cos you said it might be a 'permissions... issue', I opened Mezzmo as Administrator and it did open - but it crashed saying that the Database was 'read only'. I changed this in folder options but it didn't help. I also moved the ffmpeg, transcoding & plugins files and they are all on the new drive (with the Database folder), but the ffmpeg folders are also in the default Mezzmo folder on 'C' drive containing the .exe. (The moved folder is empty, though it is still set to the new 'E' drive in Options.)

Anyway, I'll give the beta a try later.

    Thanks again Peter,

    Chris

It may be a problem where there is no owner of the folder/file and this prevents any user from opening it. Since the Administrator could only open it read only this indicates that there is something wrong with the rights set on the folder/files of the database where the original permissions have not carried over to the new drive.

Thanks Peter - I've installed the beta and it's going fine.

I checked the folder permissions (shared folders in Windows Server Experience 2016) and it gets really complicated. The default shares have multiple accounts listed, including 'unknown', some 'user' accounts and 'administrator' accounts - more than one of each. One, the 'Domain users' does not have 'full control'. I changed it to full and Mezzmo could then use the database folder therein. However, when I installed the new beta, inspite of uninstalling everything (including library, etc.), the new install remembered the previous playlists, etc. (not that it mattered).

I have moved the folders I can off the system drive and have moved them to another partition, in a Mezzmo 'top level' folder outside the default shares (but still in 'SharedFolders'), so it's not fussed with permissions problems. It wall worked fine, first time, with whatever the default permissions are (the server user account is the default admin one). Mezzmo is now maintaining the library from scratch which will take most of today.

Anyway Peter it's all going great guns now so many thanks again for your help: you have been priceless. How I wish all tech support was as good as Conceivas!

    Thanks again,

    Chris
