    iPod does not support MKV files natively, so they need to be transcoded. Once they finish transcoding, they can be played on the iPod (they'll be MP4 videos).

    If you really need to play mkvs on an ipod, try Airvideo. It is the best video streamer for the Ipod devices.

    You might also want to try the AirPlayer app. On the Mezzmo server, I used the MLPL device profile, turned off transcoding for the device and dialed back the quality by two clicks. AVIs stream wonderfully now.
