Thread: Bitstreaming from Mezzmo to Panasonic Blu Ray to Yamaha AVR

    Thanks again. I guess I did not make myself very clear in the previous post. Lets assume I have a 1080p movie file of 2GB on my computer running Mezzmo and the file format is supported by my Blu ray player.

    Scenario 1: I stream this 2GB file to my Blu ray player and then to my AVR
    Scenario 2: I burn the SAME 2GB file on to a DVD and play it through my Blu ray player

    Would the video and audio quality be the same for the two scnearios? I understand that the pass through mode in your ripping software ensures virtually the same quality as in the DVD.

    By the way, what ripping software do you use? Is handbrake a good option?

    Yes - the audio and video quality would be the same. Note that DLNA devices' firmware can often have different engines within them for playing files via DLNA and via USB/CD/DVD/direct play - so this could be a source for some playback differences.

    I use DVDFab. Many here use Handbrake and could render an opinion.
