If a device supports playing external subtitle files via DLNA, then the current version of Mezzmo streams these external subtitle files to these devices right now. Most people are posting on this thread to request subtitling support for DLNA devices that do not support playing external subtitles (such as Sony Bravia TVs). The source of the subtitles to burn in may be from external subtitle files, subtitle channels within a file container, etc. We have confirmed that the next major version of Mezzmo will have a new subtitle engine that transcodes or burns in subtitles into the actual video. That will let users watch subtitles on these DLNA devices.
