Hi Paul, tried at lower bit rates and the fast forward / rewind works great at 2X, 4X etc. Thanks for your help, the temptation is always to go with the fastest bitrate however there is a compromise (the trick is knowing where in the chain it's broken). I restricted the conversion bit rate to 15Mb/sec (from the original 26Mb/sec)......quality still great and it works. This post can now be closed out......thanks again
