Cool Non-responsive GUI & Multi PC's Love the Software! Goodbye & Good Riddance TVersity

I have a newer HTPC system with 6 core CPU and 16Gb ram. W8 64 bit
When I minimize the Mezzmo program, it shows up in the system tray.
Most of the time I cannot get the GUI to come back and have to force close the program and restart.
I have only 2 users but I thought maybe the transcoding at 1080 was maxing out the CPU but it only gets to about 30% even with all else running.

I hate to have to kill the program and restart it just to review or do maintenance as the other user is like viewing a movie or listening to music.

Would I have less difficulty if I installed another licensed copy on another PC so each one would only have a single user?

Is there a command line where I can allocate more resourses, or should I try to change it priority to above normal?

I want to become very good at this software as I want to show it off to friends and family as THE solution for Dish users.

    Thank you.

    Hi TexasDon,

We may have fixed this issue as we are preparing a new version at the moment. Just to be sure, we'd like to see a set of logs when this occurs. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging). Stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Run Mezzmo again and try to reproduce the problem. Once reproduced, exit Mezzmo again. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

    Default Update

I reduced the load on the Mezzmo library - now it just has a couple of thousand files, of which about 300 are movies.
I am using that to stream to my mother's Dish Hopper Receiver and it works well for that purpose.

When I saw that the software worked, ie it transcoded and played all formats, I just started adding library components. I guess I put in too many items.

I installed another copy on a W7 64 bit 8X CPU to see if there was any performance difference.

I think there is just a library size cutoff for efficiency. I tried my music collection of about 70K files but it overwhelmed it.

I am testing now with a smaller video library to see how it goes.

I have been using my HTPC for so long, it was nice to be able to use the Hopper receiver and not have to change inputs or remotes.

I am a serious home electronics guy. I would love for your software to work. I would easily pay a couple of hundred bucks if it could use the PC resources and make playback simple.

I could go to a hardware solution but that just adds another to switch and teach others to use it to play back media.

OK, I rambled some. If you have a newer version out, I can wait and see.

For now, I am still experimenting with library size and load.

    Thanks

    Hi TexasDon,

We regularly test Mezzmo with a collection of 500K+ files, so it should work with your collection of files. We're happy to work with you to find out the 'overloading' issue you have found. What we need from you is a set of logs after you add your collection of files. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Start Mezzmo and your Mezzmo server again, and then reproduce the 'overloading' problem. If you think it helps, take a screenshot of Mezzmo so we can see what you are doing when the 'overloading' happens. Then, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
