Hello,
Been holding out on the 4.0.6.0 update. Finally upgraded from 3.4.4.0 yesterday and noticed two things so far.
- I use a NAS array to host/stream movie files. To prolong HDD life (and save power), I have the drives set to go to sleep when not used. If asleep, 3.4.4.0 dwells for 20-30 seconds while the HDDs spin up, then the movie plays. If not asleep, a movie plays immediately. With 4.6.6.0, I get an request error when starting a movie -- then get returned to the main menu. This behavior only occurs while the NAS is asleep; if I wait another 30 seconds, it works fine without error. Note: if I request a movie multiple times within the "spin-up" period, the request error persists.
Bottom Line: the wait state needs to be extended in 4.6.6.0 to accommodate NAS power saving mode.
- Playlist folders in 4.0.6.0 are slow to read. Seems read time is based on folder size.
- Larger folders read more slowly (some of mine take 12 -15 seconds)
- Smaller folders -- those with fewer movies -- read more quickly
It appears folder contents are not cached, so I have to wait every time I enter larger folders. Didn't have this issue in 3.4.4.0; all folders, regardless of size, read near real-time.
Thanks,
