checking through some different files and it now seems that only avi videos work with only srt subs. no other combination seems to work. wasnt always like this, what has changed?
External or embedded subtitles are rendered on your device by your device's firmware. By default, Mezzmo server delivers your external or embedded subtitles to your devices, but this is also controlled by the device profile you have assigned to your device (see Media Devices dialog) and the subtitle settings & transcoding settings you have set in Mezzmo. A full explanation of how subtitles work in Mezzmo is here - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...titling-Basics. If still no success, then tell us what device model you are streaming to and the device profile you have assigned to your device in the Media Devices dialog.

just had a read through the link you sent and ive already checked most of the stuff on the list. my tv is a samsung UE46D6500 and the device profile is samsung D. im a bit stuck when it comes to burning subs onto the video because my computer isnt powerful enough to transcode (not since mezzmo update 2.5 anyway) but the subs were still working without any transcoding. dont have any idea when this stopped though
Our understanding from our own testing and from Samsung D-series TV owners' feedback is that Samsung D-series TVs subtitle support is limited to xsub embedded subtitles for AVI files and SRT subtitles for other video files. So, if your PC is not powerful enough to transcode on-the-fly for subtitle burning, then it may be best to download SRT subtitles for your movies and TV shows. There are many online subtitle web sites such as http://www.opensubtitles.org/. Make sure teh SRT is in teh same folder as you video and has the same filename. Then go to the Properties dialog (Subtitles tab) for the video and click the "Update Subtitles" button so Mezzmo picks up the new SRT subtitle file.
If you are still not getting subtitles displayed, then it's best we get a set of logs from you. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Stream the video to your TV and when no subtitles are displayed, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
